Tim is an Assistant Professor at UNCA. He comes to us from a teaching position he had at the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC. He spends much time chasing and unlocking the physics of the most powerful explosions in the Universe since the Big Bang, the elusive Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs).

He probes the high-energy emission of GRBs using data from the Swift spacecraft, as well as HETE-II. He also continues to analyze GRB data from the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE), one of four high-energy experiments flown on the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory from 1991-2000. These studies probe the temporal and spectral properties of GRBs in an attempt to uncover patterns and distinct types of emission mechanisms, as well as possible GRB classes.
