Bob Moog, inventor of the "Moog Synthesizer," moved to Asheville in 1978 and was affiliated with UNC Asheville off and on for over a quarter century until his death in 2005. He held a brief adjunct position in our department in the 1990s. He taught our PHYS 310 Electronics, a four-hour course on analog and digital electronics with laboratory. He has had many connections with the university, especially with our Department of Music, which has an extensive music technology program. He was also an Artist in Residence at one time at UNCA.
